Obama: Another Reason We Must Have Mitt

Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Thursday he would not use nuclear weapons "in any circumstance. I think it would be a profound mistake for us to use nuclear weapons in any circumstance," Obama said, with a pause, "involving civilians."

Then he quickly added, "Let me scratch that. There's been no discussion of nuclear weapons. That's not on the table."

The Illinois senator warned Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf earlier this week that he would use U.S. military force in Pakistan even without Musharraf's permission if necessary to root out terrorists.

However, when asked by The Associated Press after a breakfast with constituents whether there was any circumstance where he would be prepared or willing to use nuclear weapons to defeat terrorism and al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, Obama replied"There's been no discussion of using nuclear weapons and that's not a hypothetical that I'm going to discuss."

Not under any circumstance? What kind of candidate or even American is this guy Obama? In taking on a "tough" topic such as Pakistan and nukes, Barack now appears foolish and naive. Further, what's the deal with "Let me scratch that. There's been no discussion of nuclear weapons. That's not on the table." Scratch that? What is this immediate backpedaling nonsense all about? How unpresidential and comical!

You need to watch what you say, senator. Words are important and these will come back to haunt you. There has been a discussion. You've just opened your mouth and inserted both feet. Even Hillary is seizing the opportunity to blast Barack. He just opened himself up for that one.

Pakistan doesn't appreciate Obama's recent tough-guy rhetoric: Pakistan slams 'ignorant' Obama attack warning. It's usually the Dems who claim Republicans don't know how to get along in the world. Looks like Obama the Inexperienced just made a few more enemies.
