Iraq 'N' Rolling

IBD Editorials produces another gem.

This Thanksgiving week, Americans and Iraqis alike have much to be thankful for. By most measures, we are winning decisively and Iraq's future is looking brighter than ever.

Even some in the consistently anti-Iraq War establishment media are having to admit the progress.

"For the first time," Newsweek's Rod Nordland wrote this week, "returning to Baghdad after an absence of four months, I can actually say that things do seem to have gotten better, and in ways that may even be durable."

The only ones who don't seem to believe Iraq is becoming almost miraculously transformed, in fact, are Democrats in Congress and running for president.

As Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut, who won re-election after losing in the primary last year to an anti-war Democrat, said this week, Democrats "continue to be in deep denial" and "emotionally invested in a narrative of retreat and defeat."

How pathetic and unfortunate (the majority of Democrats). Lieberman, however, is a stallion!
It will be fascinating to see how whomever the Democrats nominate for president will react as the good news from Iraq gets even better.

Have Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama — not to mention House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid — gone too far to be able to switch sides?
Reid, the other Mormon, is an absolute moron. They can't fairly acknowledge the progress of our uniformed men and women.

Our President also deserves some credit. A year ago, virtually everyone thought he was crazy for his surge proposal.
Even if they can change their tune, the American people should not forget how ready and eager they all were — and still are — to surrender.

This is something for all of us to consider. When would we have given up? W isn't a great speaker, but he kept the focus on winning this conflict.
