Romney's Iowa Holiday Parties

NYTimes' blog TheCaucus says that Romney's gatherings in Iowa are drawing huge crowds:

Mitt Romney’s campaign in Iowa flexed some of its organizational muscle tonight with its largest political event this year in the state — more than 1,000 thousand people, contacted by e-mail, mail and phone, packed a ballroom here on Wednesday night for a Romney Christmas party.

...

Romney’s Iowa staff was most excited about the attendance. Just last week after the Des Moines Register debate, the campaign turned out several hundred — Mr. Romney’s staff put it at more than 800—for a holiday party in a high school cafeteria in Marion. That event had been the campaign’s largest in the state to date, but this one easily exceeded that.

As the caucus draws closer, people are getting more excited about Romney's campaign. Getting over 1000 people to show up for an event this close to Christmas is a big deal.

We were able to get hundreds of people at a New York fundraiser 10 days ago. New York will be another state in Romney's column as these trends continue.
