Fred Thompson has dropped out of the primary race for President
"Today, I have withdrawn my candidacy for president of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort," Thompson said in a statement.

A lot of Fred fans have been commenting in other blogs that they favor a Romney/Thompson ticket, and that makes sense in a lot of ways. Thompson is so different from Romney, yet they have common values and goals, that they are quite complimentary. They patch up the others' weaknesses.
On the other hand, I don't know who the other VP options are. I hope Romney isn't forced to choose a VP out of campaign expediency. If Thompson is his top choice anyway, then I hope they make it official and announce it, though.
