Last night we had the current medal race standings, but the delegate race is where the nomination is won. And Romney's lead there is even more impressive. After a decisive victory in Michigan, CNN has Romney at double his nearest competitor, Huckabee. The Huckster left Michigan without a single delegate.
#1 Romney - 42 delegates
#2 Huckabee - 21 (only picked up 1 new delegate since Iowa)
#3 McCain - 19
#4 Thompson - 6
#5 Paul - 2
#6 (tie) Giuliani/Hunter - 1
While the media is still pushing a story of "no clear front runner" the real numbers make this narrative look like the foolishness it is. In the last debate Romney said "Facts are stubborn things" but to me looks like the media is even more stubborn. Why do they do this? Pretty simple business decision, really. They need to sell advertising. An unsettled race, even if it's a media creation, helps them make money. Sales may go up, even if their credibility is in the dumps.

I like it how Mitt has more delegates than 2nd place, and 3rd place contenders combined.
Of course, I don't expect a lot of delegates, if any, from South Carolina to go Mitt's way. Isn't it an all or nothing contest there?
But I do expect Nevada to swing Romney's way.
