The Detroit Free Press last evening released the results of their GOP poll putting Mitt at 27% vs. McCain's 22%. It's not the first poll putting Mitt in the lead, but it's the one with the largest margin. I'm delighted to see Mitt's hard work finally paying off in the form of some momentum that very well may translate into a win.
Of the 40% who named the economy as their top concern, Romney had a 42%-25% advantage over McCain. McCain wins by about the same margin over Romney among the 24% of Republican voters whose top issue is the Iraq war.
