In Iowa and New Hampshire, I was observing from the other side of the TV reporting, from inside the campaign headquarters. I didn't see anything about exit polls or the pre-spin going on during the 6PM news. We just kept working the phones till the end.
Such a different experience tonight. We managed to call everyone yesterday before the evening was over. I know the volunteers and staff in Michigan worked just as hard as we did in the previous states and are feeling those same jitters before the official results come in. Just a few more minutes till polls close and Michigan's choice is going to dramatically affect the race.
I'll guarantee tho, with the way Mitt has hit his stride this week, the energy in the office tonight has to be incredible. Wish I could have made the trip, I even had it routed out on the GPS, but still very happy to see the fruits of everyone's hard work paying out even if this time it's on TV.
McCain led in Michigan for a long time until the last day or two, or depending on the tracking poll, it could have been this morning when the undecided came to pick Mitt. While John tries to spin it otherwise, it's his doom and gloom campaign that's doomed him when voters had a clear choice between McCain's anvils and Mitt's optimistic vision for the future!
(PS. Any bets if Hillary can beat "Not Hillary" on the Democrat side?)
