End to an Exciting Campaign

Well, I was surprised at first to hear Mitt was suspending his campaign. I'll admit, yesterday I thought he might get out. But, by today I was back in the saddle completely, thinking Mitt was going to grind it out.

I'm glad he chose this route instead. However, I'm afraid the Republican party has just nominated its most liberal candidate. That's one reason why McCain will almost surely be defeated this fall. The Republican base feels betrayed.

In part, they have Huckabee and others to thank for this current scenario. Too many stayed in too long when they were not truly viable. Mitt got out once a clear path was no longer present. Contrast this approach to the following: Fred stayed in till SC. Rudy waited around till Florida. Who knows when Ron Paul will drop out. Huck still is in, as well.

All of these guys prevented a Romney run against McCain the moderate. Mitt may not have won in a head-to-head matchup with McCain on Super Tuesday. But without Huckabee disrupting the early momentum with an Iowa upset, who knows where we'd be.

I'll continue to check the news, but imagine fewer and fewer people will visit this site. It's been fun while it lasted.

Update: Mitt will likely make a run of it in 2012. I sure hope he does.

This site will likely still be operational (with upgrades, etc.) for Mitt's Run Part II. I will have left the Empire State by then. (I'm a student now, but will get a job by this December.) However, many capable NY-ers will remain to carry on.

Thanks for the good times!
