A few post-Mitt thoughts

First, I have to recommend this video that Nealie Ride posted. Oh wow, that was funny.

Now, I have a few thoughts about what comes next for Mitt, the GOP, and America. When I grow up, I want to be like Mitt. It's true. The success isn't what appeals to me as much as the character he's kept despite the success. His CPAC speech was phenomenal, and you should definitely watch it all the way through if you haven't already done so. In it he states very clearly that if he were in the race for himself, he would stay in. But the race has never been about him, it's been about his love for America, and that he will support McCain as the Republican nominee in order to beat the democrats. That sort of principled, selfless approach really impresses me, and despite all the pundits attributing it to no more than political pandering (as they've done for every principled thing he's done through his entire campaign!), I believe his sincerity and I admire it.

I'll still be for Mitt if and when he runs next time around. And when the next run comes, he won't have to battle the level of obscurity that he had to deal with this time around. His positions will be clearer, and his supporters will be ready and waiting.

May the Mittness grow over the next few years! 4 years is really not a long time. I'll be just finishing up my graduate training by then, and hopefully I'll have something more to contribute next time around. :-)

As I worked through my anger and disappointment with the news that Romney was bowing out of the race, I came to realize that my strong reaction in part came from being silenced before I was even able to speak! Almost half the states still have primaries or caucuses. I WILL let my voice be heard by casting my ballot for Romney in the upcoming Ohio primary. In doing so, I hope to communicate the following messages (even if I am the only one who knows). First, Romney was this “conservative’s conservative” for the office of Commander-in-Chief. Second, the mainstream media spin and storyline the pundits and liberals are painting Romney with do not sit well with this voter. I refuse to be silenced! And, neither should any other voice that wanted to speak out in favor of Romney! Why should we Conservative Republicans in Ohio just sit here? All conservatives who have been silenced by the media should unite our voices in support and appreciation for our candidate for the remainder of the primaries. McCain will still get the nomination, but he needs to know where the heart and soul of the party is.

Good for your, Christine!

I urge everyone in states who have not voted yet, do get out and vote and make sure that vote is for Mitt Romney!

He's "suspended" his campaign -- he didn't "quit" -- he is still able to collect delegates. It's one way to show Mitt we still support him, not the other two clowns.

And hey, ya never know... a lot can happen between now and the convention!
