My morning paper today had a smart article by a political science student, and chairman of the Marist College Republicans.
Game is still on for GOP
Another national effect of Florida is the race for the Republican nomination seems to boil down to Romney and McCain. Huckabee needed a win in Florida as much as, maybe even more than, Giuliani. After a win in Iowa, he has not been able to get the same showing excluding his strong second place finish in South Carolina. Meanwhile, Romney has asserted himself by taking Wyoming, Michigan and Nevada to couple with strong second place finishes in Iowa, New Hampshire, and arguably in Florida as well. Huckabee needs to do really well on Super Tuesday to stay in the race, and without money that is going to be difficult to do.
Romney, on the other hand, has the money and organization to take the nomination.
Joe De Lisle Jr. thinks most likely Romney and McCain will battle it out all the way to the convention.
