Mitt Romney: a President For All

This video really bugs me, actually. It attempts to legitimize Mormonism within the context of Romney's campaign, and while I don't think Mormonism should influence the race one way or the other, many evangelicals see Mitt's presidential bid as partly to advance Mormonism. I think leaving the specifics of Mitt's faith out of it means leaving them out of it. If those who are campaigning for Mitt try to clarify the doctrines of Mormonism--as a part of the campaign--they will inadvertently alienate the very conservative Christians they are trying to reassure. I'm all for discussing the specifics of doctrine and religions, but I prefer that it be in another context. Just my two cents.

I don't know if it attempts to legitimize the LDS Church. Among other things, it points out that he's not running for pastor-in-chief.

It does point out that Mitt believes in Jesus and other biblical things, although clearly in a different way than other Christians.

Mitt ministers with 10K and Huckster ministers for 10K.

That's how I see the difference.

Mormonism doesn't need to be legitimized. If people would stop bringing up the fact that Mitt's a mormon, none of these discussions would have to happen. Do you know how many times Mitt has said "I don't believe people of this great country will vote for POTUS based on the church they attend?" I've personally heard him say it at least 30 times in as many interviews. I've followed Mitt now for more than a year, every day. Never has he been the one to bring up religious doctrines. Not because he's ashamed but simply because it shouldn't matter. What matters is how his faith and values influence his governance.
I implore all of you including evangelicals to look beyond the mormonism and see the man. Look upon the heart. See someone that is willing to serve without pay, give of his heart, time, resources and talents.
