I just sent a letter to the Buffalo News.
Write one letter -- and send off a copy to each newspaper and cover all papers in all parts of the state!
I sent off letters to all the papers too. But I do think a person gets a better shot of being published if you tailor the letter to each publication individually. For example, my newsday letter addressed their endorsement of McCain and my Buffalo News letter addressed their endorsement of McCain. The newsday just mentioned Romney's lack of experience. The Buff News criticized Romney for his lack of broad support (the chicken or the egg?).
So, write them, but personalize them as much as you can.
Good luck!
