The effort to push for the crackdown on illegal immigration and border enforcement is sure to test GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain. The Arizona senator, standing side-by-side with liberal icon Sen. Edward Kennedy, was instrumental in pushing the amnesty bill that was defeated in the Senate. Even after the bill's initial defeat, McCain continued to push for amnesty in a revamped bill whose "z-visa" was the equivalent of a free pass to citizenship. That bill was defeated, and now Sen. McCain says he's learned his lesson: border security first.
