Poll: Dems Lead McCain in Battleground States


The two Democratic presidential contenders slightly lead John McCain in the dozen states that were closely contested in the 2004 election, a [Gallup] poll showed Thursday.

In separate matchups against the Republican candidate, both Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton led him 47 percent to 43 percent when registered voters in those competitive states were combined, according to the Gallup Poll.

The dozen states where the 2004 margin was close were Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
