The results in Puerto Rico are coming in. Obama is losing to Hillary by 2:1 margins in the first returns. Only 3% are in, but looks like Obama is far from getting the party unified behind him. I can't think of another extended primary where the one expected to be the nominee has lost this many of the final races by this huge a margin.
I lived in La Isla Del Encanto for a couple years back in the 90s. They talk about how Hillary was out there campaigning "Boricua Style" and let me tell you, those political events down there are wild. Caravans of cars parading thru towns and people dancing and waving flags in the beds of trucks. Loud loud music on amplifiers and horns honking non stop. I'm guessing from the pictures I've seen (like the one above) that this is still true today and Hillary really got into it.
I don't know if they'll be shooting the pistols in the air tonight in celebration with the fireworks and all but I'm sure Hillary's fans are going to have fun. The MSM is saying the enthusiasm about this race is down, but then I wouldn't trust the media to get this story straight. After it, it was the same media who didn't tell anyone in the mainland that the PR government was on the verge of collapse and unable to pay it's bills back in 2006 until the government had actually shut down.
For the record, Republicans did a caucus in Puerto Rico back at the end of February and McCain won with 90% of the vote. The head of the Republican party of Puerto Rico was in the New Hampshire office with me working for Governor Romney. If Mitt was still in the race at that point it would have been interesting to see. Again I'm sure glad the GOP is where it is and not in the knife fight that the Democrats have on their hands today.
Extra: She won EVERY demographic in the primary today. Women, Men, Old, Young, College Educated, No School, Church Attenders and non-attenders. Everything that there was to win, she won
Just amazing.
