Romney at top of the list for VP

Just spotted this....

by: Hugh Hewitt

Mike Allen of Politico.com just told me that indeed retired USMC General Anthony Zinni is near the top of the Obama list, and that there are four on the McCain list: Romney at the top, with Rob Portman, Eric Cantor and Tom Ridge also in the hunt.

Update: Fred Barnes article about the other three choices for VP: Cantor, Ridge and Portman

I honestly have never heard of Rep. Eric Cantor and had to look him up -- he's from Virginia and is Chief Deputy Whip for the GOP in the House. I don't see how this guy could excite the base. Ridge -- puh-lease. Frankly, Rob Portman's claim to fame: Ohio. Whoop-tee-do.

Ridge would help with PA, but is PA that vulnerable right now?

Ridge is just pals with McCain, and we all know how loyalty matters to Johnny. He doesn't have enough pull in PA to really make a difference. Plus, as Sec of Homeland Sec. there would be plenty of stuff for the dems and media to pick on. Too much baggage as they say.
