I don't think that was the smartest way to go about things with this ad.
Actually, now that I've thought about this longer, maybe its not so bad.
In fact, its brilliant!
Here's WHY it's brilliant. It's actually preparing the stage (and indicating the logic and inevitability) for the Romney choice. It's saying: unlike the thin skinned baby Barack, McCain is tough enough to choose his strongest and most effectively critical opponent - who also brings the largest group of disaffected Republican voters into his orbit. This ad makes it impossible for McCain to "Pass Over" Romney in a few days, because he'd be doing exactly what he's mocking Barack for having just done!
The title of the ad = Passover is a funny joke on the religious crap....as McCain has been obviosly and ostentaciously flirting with an orthodox Jew in Lieberman....and now he's about to embrace a Mormon!!! And don't forget Huckababy is goiibg to be forced to do the same with Mitt and Mac in Mo a few days later!!! Huckabee is also being addressed in the ad: grow up Huck! McCain is running a very funny campaign here!!
Can't run an ad like this and then not choose Romney.
