New York Voting Information

Voting Early by Mail

To vote absentee by mail you must apply for a ballot with your local county board.

Voters can request an absentee ballot at any time during the calendar year. A completed application must be mailed (and postmarked) to your county board of elections not later than October 28, 2008. We recommend that you apply for your ballot as early as possible to allow enough time to process your application.

Who can vote absentee

You may vote by absentee ballot if you will be:
  • unavoidably absent from your county on election day;
  • unable to appear at the polls due to illness or disability;
  • a patient in a Veterans' Administration Hospital; or
  • detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony.
Questions

If you have any questions about voting absentee you should check the State Board of Elections web site or call your county board office.

Oh, please. I'm an Upstate Republican. Downstate always carries the state for the Democrats. And this year, thanks to Palin vs Romney, there is no way for the GOP to pull it in -- Reagan she ain't.
