Mitt Romney, a former and perhaps future GOP presidential hopeful, will
headline the Commonwealth Gala on May 29 at the state Republican
convention.
The former Massachusetts governor will address the state party fundraiser
at the Richmond Marriott, 500 E. Broad St. Tickets will cost $75 per person,
$140 per couple, or $550 for a table of 10.
That weekend, state Republicans will settle on their statewide ticket for
November. Events will take place at the Marriott and at the Richmond
Coliseum.
Former Attorney General Bob McDonnell is unopposed for the GOP’s
gubernatorial nomination. Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, who is seeking re-election,
faces a challenge for the nomination from Patrick Muldoon, a lawyer and cattle
farmer from Southwest Virginia.
The candidates seeking the GOP nomination for attorney general are state
Sen. Ken Cuccinelli, R-Fairfax; John Brownlee, a former U.S. attorney; and Dave
Foster, a Washington lawyer and former member of the Arlington County School
Board.
In late January, Romney addressed U.S. House Republicans at their annual
retreat at The Homestead in Hot Springs. Romney praised GOP members of the House for voting against the federal stimulus package.
