I just checked the final list of Tax Day TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party's for New York, and really amazing that even in a state with such a liberal reputation, 30 events have been announced.
That's one TEA Party for each NY congressional district and one to spare.
While Obama and his Congress keep on bickering and dividing, coming up with legislation that fails to find things the right and left can agree on, TEA Party's are where the nation is finding a true bipartisan consensus.
There have been a number of political figures trying to hitch their wagons to the Tea Party. I am glad that Mitt has not. Michael Steele tried to get some stage time and was denied. Newt Gingrich is looking to coopt too, I don't think his move comes off very well frankly.
You might be wondering where Mitt Romney is on the TEA Party Movement. Without anything explicitly stated, you can see how this is his natural constituency. Mitt has stated his opposition repeatedly to the out of control spending, the government intervention in the free markets, the bailout of Detroit (what a waste of our money that's been!), and on and on. The folks fed up with what Obama and the Democrat controlled congress have done are going to be flocking to him in 2012.
Count on it.
