If two Utah favorite sons ran for president in 2012, which one would draw more support in the Beehive State? A new Dan Jones poll for KSL-TV and the Deseret News finds Mitt Romney outpacing Gov. Jon Huntsman.KSLNeither man has said they intend to run, but both Romney and Huntsman are considered possible presidential candidates for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.
In our statewide poll this week of 254 Utahns, we asked: “Which of the two do you prefer?” 55 percent say Romney; 32 percent say Huntsman.

FYI: Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr.’s appearance at a Michigan county Republican Party event was scrapped this week after the county chairwoman said that hosting the moderate Utah governor would mean abandoning the party’s conservative principles.

Hey, I'm gonna preface this by saying that I absolutely love Mitt - flew to Iowa on my own dime to help with the caucus GOTV, and had a ball doing it.
But seriously? It's Utah.

That's not exactly a bellweather state, especially not for Mitt Romney :D Give me New Hampshire sans McCain, and then we can start talking. Give me South Carolina and Florida, then we start winning. Give me Petraeus as a running mate - now we start dominating. I love Mitt, but everybody knows that he owns Utah.
The point is, I think, is that in a place where both men are known well and about equally, mitt is still the favorite. that means that if both ran, as people got to know both, most would like mitt more :D That's my take, anyway. You are right though, Utahans love mitt!
