Yep.

via PoliGazette
Camp Romney had to hit back. They could not let Steele’s comments stand.

The only possible way forward is for Steele to resign. He cannot go to war with an influential and powerful politician like Romney. That is not his responsibility - he should help every single Republican out there, empower them, rather than push his own personal agenda.

Boy that hit the nail on the head.

You can't have your RNC Chair attacking what is likely the GOP's 2012 nominee.

What an idiot Steele is.

There sure seems to be a concerted effort against Mitt Romney right now. It appears the fact that Mitt gets things done (note his record of achievement in private sector and as governor) and is tuned into the American public (ie: healthcare) somehow threatens these guys who don't seem to have an answer outside of "I want Barack Obama to fail".

All true.

Mitt is fit in mind, body and spirit. He is eloquent, confident, effective and in-control of his life. He studies an issue, comes up with a solution and implements it. Simply, he gets things done. He is a natural leader.

When the story consistently becomes about Michael Steele, it's time for Mr. Steele to exit. His job is to raise money, increase membership into the GOP and get Republicans into elective office. Maybe he's trying to reach out to new voters with some of his interviews, but time and time again he only look ridiculous. It seems he's fixated on his own ego. Is it just me, or does he seem to be competing with Obama over who is the more powerful black man in America? It is weird.

Steele is a very strange man - much more so than ever showed up before he got this position.

What is Steele thinking? If he does not know better than to attack a potential GOP front runner, than he does not get his job description..and or is biased and intentionally put Mitt down for things he cleared the air about in 2008, to set the stage for his own choice. I remember, back in the primaries he was not for Mitt even then.. Very sad, Mitt is a great American and did very well in his primary run. JMs good ole boy network and their timetable lies, Crist coming out for JM, and The California Governor, and the story that it was JM turn, shared by Huckabee, plus the W. Virginia trick by JM placing 3rd passing over his votes to Huckabee so that Mitt could not carry that state. Mitt was 1st.So, to have Michael Steele try to make Mitt look unpopular and had no base is totally asinine. And since he lost, everyone now says, it should have been Mitt...Mitt 2012!!!Mitt won Maine 52%

First of all, how come Steele had to release a statement through a spokesperson and not deliver his own apology?

And secondly, Romney is a front-runner. Why should his supporters contribute $$$ to the RNC when the chairman of the RNC can't be trusted to support Mitt Romney?? That reason alone is enough to dump Steele.

Steele is a clown. He has no idea what's going to come out of his mouth once he opens it. Also on this show, he tried to compare the beauty contest gal's question to Obama's using empathy as a Supreme Court nominee criterion. And he jumped from one half formed "thought" (really just emotional opinions or something) to another, totally forgetting about the supposed connection to the Court that he said was his whole point. It's like listening to a Megan Mccain dissetation on The View. Or some teenyboppers considered opinions on current events. Unbelievably stupid and embarrassing. Just childish junk.
