The Invasion of Normandy: June 6,1944

Heart felt gratitude to all the surviving service members and to their extended families for the tremendous sacrifices made by them in service to their country and to freedom. We will never forget what you did for us on June 6,1944.

A special thanks to the current generation of servicemen and women for all that you do and a shoutout to the current class of USMC Officer candidates as they go through the rigors of OCS at Quantico, VA. this summer!

Hey John!

Nice to see you again. In what branch of the armed forces is your son joining? Do you or your son have any advice about joining the armed forces?

My brother is joining the Coast Guard soon, and I am interested in joining the army. Just thought you might have some tips

Best,

SteveAndrew

Steve,

Pat loves the Marine Corps and is having the time of his life in Quantico this summer.

As Pat says, where else can a young man fire assault rifles, throw grenades, crawl through the mud, repel down the side of buildings and get paid for it!

If you want to make a career of the military, maybe the Army is best for you, especially if you are very ambitious and would someday like to make it to the Joint Chiefs of Staff. It is more likely that you can get there from the Army than from the Marines, because the USMC is such a small branch of the service and it is rare for the Commandant of the Marines to be selected to be on the Joint Chiefs.

But if your main goal is to serve with an elite fighting force that has espirit de corps that is off the charts, then the USMC would be a great fit for you.
