Friday, June 19 could be the flash point in the Iranian Election protests. The Supreme Leader of Iran is scheduled to make a rare appearance at the traditional Friday prayers at Tehran University in the capital city.
Thursday's memorial brought 1,000,000 Iranians into the city's streets and main square. Obviously, emotions are running very high and anything could ignite this very volatile situation.
My understanding is that the Ayatollah has demanded that the moderate leader whose supporters believe the election was rigged, Mousavi, stand next to him at Friday's prayers in a show of national unity, or face expulsion from the country.
If Mousavi declines and is taken into custody, this could be the tipping point for the crowds, who will see this as their last, best chance to topple the totalitarian regime that has ruled them with an iron fist for 30 years.
I am sure that all eyes will be on Iran as dawn breaks Friday morning. Here is hoping that the Iranian people will find a path to freedom and that it will be found by peaceful means.
