Huckabee ripped a page out of the Democratic playbook. What kind of Republican is this?
Update:
The Wasthington Post reports on recent polls in this story: Polls Show More Optimism on the War.
Nearly three-quarters of Republicans approve of the job Bush is doing on the war; nearly half, 48 percent, strongly approve, compared with 36 percent last December. Independents show a similar upward trend in their ratings but overall remain closer to Democrats than to Republicans in their assessment of Bush's performance on the war.
Among independents, approval of the president's war management has grown from 23 percent last December to 34 percent; strong approval has tripled, to 18 percent.
This is what puzzles me about Huckabee's recent criticism of Pres. Bush. Huck is not only wrong, but Republicans are warming up to the president for the relative improvements in Iraq. What a stupid political move!
Along those lines (the war and its progress), I spoke with my brother two days ago while he was in Baghdad. He's now in Kuwait or Germany on his way home for 18 days. He reported that in the last four months they've seen enormous improvements. The war is not over or won, but things are much better.
Danny even shared a story about Geraldo Rivera (FOX News) walking around a city near Baghdad without a flack jacket. Months ago he would have been a gonner. Yet, recently he did just fine. It's still a sensational stunt, but he made it.
