New Florida Poll

THE NUMBERS - REPUBLICANS

John McCain, 25 percent

Mitt Romney, 23 percent

Rudy Giuliani, 15 percent

Mike Huckabee, 15 percent

Giuliani's numbers have plummeted, and that poses a significant problem for the former New York mayor who has staked his entire campaign on winning Florida.

Folks:

Here's even better news: This afternoon's Insider Advantage poll has Mitt at 25%, Giuliani at 19%, McVain at 18%, and Huckster at 12%. This squares with the Rasmussen poll from Monday, save for reverse poll position for Giuliani and McVain.

Suggest this reflects Mitt's upward trajectory even before the refugees from the Fred-Head campaign begin to join Mitt's bandwagon in any appreciable numbers, given the fact that Fred's decision was of recent vintage.

In any event, I expect Mitt's situation to improve rather significantly before the Floridians go to the polls next Tuesday--especially since Fred and Mitt will no longer split the conservative/Repub vote, not to mention the unwinding of the Giuliani and Huckster campaigns.
