Preview of Romney's Interview

A great line in the Romney interview that will air tonight:

Listening to Obama and Clinton discuss their national security credentials, Romney said, is akin to "listening to two chihuahuas argue about which is the biggest dog."

"When it comes to national security, John McCain is the big dog, and they are the chihuahuas," he said.

And he really dogs on Obama:
He has been a United States senator for a short, short period of time. He is in no significant way qualified to lead the country at a time of war, to lead the country out of an economic challenge. This is not a person who can stand up to Senator McCain.”

Mitt says he'd take the VP position if it was offered to him. The VP candidate in the campaign phase is often in charge of being the attack dog. Mitt would be able to deliver those hits against the Democrats with style and flair and good humor.

It's Personal To Me

I like the title of this new ad. It's aimed for Michigan, but certainly applies to New York.

Hillary Clinton promised that she'd deliver 200,000 new jobs to upstate New York, and instead since she's been senator the last statistics I saw say we've actually lost 20,000 jobs.

Mitt Romney knows how to turn things around, he's done it over and over in the private sector and he'll definitely get the job done in Washington!

Fundraising for Mitt

One obvious way to help Romney win is to keep the campaign funds coming in. Mitt is matching our donations with money from his own pocket but it's those donors like you who really show the strength of his support.

Small donations add up fast. The campaign has raised an impressive amount of funds here in NY and with your help we can continue to help the campaign run those ads in the early states.

Click here to sponsor the ad that's helped people in Iowa compare Mitt's no-nonsense record on crime with Huckabee's more than 1000 pardons and commutations.

Click here to sponsor the ad which shows NH voters that Mitt Romney's plan to fix illegal immigration is much better than John McCain's. Remember, McCain tried to force an amnesty plan thru Congress this year.

On the topic of fixing illegal immigration... If you are amoung Congressman Tancredo's supporters here in NY, his endorsement of Governor Romney is much appreciated. Hope you'll follow his lead and contribute what you can to Mitt, who Tancredo said will be most effective in addressing that issue the congressman championed.

TANCREDO ENDORSES ROMNEY!

While Nealie Ride is out of town, I (generalee) have taken in upon myself to log into his account to post this story. Enjoy!

As expected, Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo. dropped his bid for the white house today. But not without passing his torch to Mitt. Here is part of the story from the AP online article:

"Tancredo said he decided to drop out in part because of concern that his presence could split the vote for other candidates who have taken a hard line on immigration, helping those who would take a less restrictive approach.

"I fear remaining in this race, one which I cannot win, would contribute to the nomination of one of these candidates," he said.

Tancredo identified Mike Huckabee and John McCain as two Republican candidates whose records indicate they wouldn't be tough enough on immigration.

"We have done too much, we have come too far for me to allow that to happen," Tancredo said.

"Tancredo said he and Romney met Thursday for more than an hour and he left the meeting convinced that the former Massachusetts governor would do what's necessary to fight illegal immigration. "

The Times article gives this quote:

“He (Romney) has a solid record that matches his rhetoric,” Mr. Tancredo said.

He also said that the rapid surge of Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas who had been considered a long-shot candidate until this month, contributed to his decision to end his campaign.

The Chicagotribune.com article states:

"It is apparent to me (Tancredo) I cannot win this race. It's also apparent to me that there are folks who are in the race who, even though they've rhetorically said the right things—we've forced them into that—I'm not sure they're there beyond that. Like Gov. Huckabee and certainly Sen. McCain. They have records," Tancredo said. "Anybody can say anything and we've all heard it from these microphones: 'Yes I'm with you. Yes I'm there.' Well, you've got to look there. What's the record? What have these people done? When they had the chance, what did they do?" he said. "I don't want to do anything that would aid them."Asked by reporters if Huckabee's surge in Iowa, in which he has surpassed longtime frontrunner Romney in polls of likely GOP caucus-goers, played a role in dropping out of the race, Tancredo said, "It was important in making this decision. You bet your life it was."

Though Tancredo was mostly a one-issue candidate, his one issue has been a very important one for a long time, and he forced people to talk about it. He was right to support Romney who shares similar views on immigration. He was equally right to criticize Huckabee and McCain for their destructive position on that policy.

Congratulations Mitt!!! Now lets watch this turn into votes in Iowa where immigration is the number one issue!

Mitt Romney Focused On Correct Opponent(s)

Nice story here about Mitt's appropriate criticisms of Dems. It's actually short enough that I'll quote it entirely below:
I've been noticing in recent days and weeks that Mitt Romney has been scaling up criticisms towards the Democratic candidates for
President. Recently, Romney took Obama to task over his support for sex education for kindergarteners, and has also
hit all of the front runners for their lack of management experience, and even equated Hillary's economic plan with Socialism. It's refreshing to see a Republican candidate tell things like they are and hitting the Democrats instead of going after fellow Republicans.

Let's face it, the Republican Party is in need of rebuilding and reuniting. We're right on the issues but we come up short when going against the Democrat Attack Machine, which we enabled to define the debate in 2006 on corruption in the Republican Party while corruption in their own party was conveniently ignored.

All Republican candidates should be targeting the Democrats. So far, Romney is the only one that is taking a real lead in showing he's ready for the general election.

Yep. And Mitt knows their Achilles' heels and is unafraid to point them out.
